Cellular Base Station
Base Stations collect data from nearby Sensor Stations. By relaying information to a Base Station, rather than each of our Sensor Stations having a cell phone modem, we’re able to keep our product affordable.
Communication
Sensor Stations communicate via radio to the Cellular Base Station, which automatically uploads the data to the cloud every 2 hours.
We use AT&T, but don’t let that scare you, Verizon lovers.
If you can send a text, but can’t make a phone call, we can upload your data to the cloud!
Range
Base Stations collect data from Sensor Stations up to 2 miles away.
We mount our Base Stations on top of a 4’ stabilizer pole which, together with an 8’ antenna, ensures line-of-sight communication between Base Stations & Sensor Stations.
Power
Good news: you won’t need to swap out batteries in the middle of the season. Our units are powered by a solar panel & a rechargeable battery.
Add-ons: rain gauge or weather station
Include a Davis Rain Collector or Davis Vantage Pro2™ GroWeather Cabled Sensor Suite as an add-on to your Base Station to view realtime weather data alongside your soil moisture data:
