Removing Your Soil Moisture Probes
It’s harvest time! If you’ve stopped irrigating, it’s time to remove your Trellis soil moisture sensors. Removing them yourself can be easy if you follow our step-by-step instructions! We also share a few things you need to keep in mind and cleaning instructions so they can be ready to go for next season!
Tools
Removing your soil moisture sensors only requires a couple of tools!
Water
Cordless drill
Auger drill bit that is over 1” in diameter & 12” or longer
(our installation auger drill bit works great!)
STEP-by-step instructions
Keep in Mind
Take your time if the sensors do not pull up easy when you first try to remove them. If your sensor probe is located in a soil texture with higher clay content, please be extra careful removing the sensor. Removing after a rainfall can also be extremely helpful!
Cleaning your sensors
Rinse your sensors in a bucket of clean water to remove leftover soil, then soak them in clean water for at least 30 minutes. Leave your sensors out to air dry. Once dry, leave in a cool dry place, & they will be ready to install again next planting season!
